The Gordon
Wine
Granite Hills The Gordon is named after the winery's founder Gordon Knight, for his vision in establishing Granite Hills and his ardour for Cabernet Sauvignon.
The estate vines, planted in 1970, are the some of the oldest in the Macedon Ranges. The vines grow in old granitic sandy loams, whose good drainage and low fertility keep yields low and grape quality high.
This wine is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller parcels of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The fruit is hand harvested and fermented in small pots. Maturation occurs over three years in oak barrels.
Deep inky red, Granite Hills The Gordon is full bodied with ripe berry flavours. Warm spicy oak is framed by smooth tannins. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
